Estimate for 2026/27, not tax advice. Scotland has different Income Tax bands. Class 2 NI is voluntary (£3.65 a week). From April 2027, Making Tax Digital applies if your trading and property income is over £30,000 (over £50,000 since April 2026). Official rates: Income Tax · National Insurance · trading allowance.
Retailed keeps your sales, costs and fees in one place, ready for your tax return.
Start freeDo I pay tax on my Vinted or eBay sales?
Not on your own unwanted things, in most cases. If you buy items to resell for a profit, that is trading: the first £1,000 of trading income a year is covered by the trading allowance, and above that you report your profit through Self Assessment and pay Income Tax and Class 4 National Insurance on it.
Should I use the trading allowance or my real costs?
Whichever is bigger. If your stock, fees and postage cost more than £1,000 a year, deducting real costs gives a lower profit. The calculator picks the better one for you.
Does this work for Scotland?
Not exactly. Scotland has its own Income Tax bands, so the Income Tax figure here is only a guide. National Insurance is the same across the UK.
